St Mary’s developed its face painting team several years ago when a couple of the mothers from the church expressed an interest in learning how to face paint. We now have a team of more than ten painters, consisting of members from both the church and the general community. These painters give their time on a voluntary basis raising funds for the church and its missions.
Its not just about fundraising though – its a great way for the parish to connect with the community. We have lots of fun interacting with the children and their carers, and children seem to love having their faces painted. Parents tell us it is also a lovely peaceful activity – a moment of quiet amidst the bustle of life.
The team can be seen in action at community events such as the Sunbury Community Festival and the Sunbury Show. Workshops are organised by request (minimum of ten people needed).
Please contact the office if you would like any more information about the face painting team and the workshops they run.
For your information, the paints used include Derivan and Aqua Colour by Kryolan – both of these are very safe to use.
